Siquinia Sportswear is a clothing brand which focuses on making sportswear garments like basketball and volleyball jerseys and has stood the test of time with their quality and affordability. It is established in the year 2006 by former Councilor of Santa Clara Sur, Mr. Monroe S. Siquinia which was later on passed to his older brother, Mr. Malvin S. Siquinia, the current owner of the said establishment. At first, they used silkscreen and rubberized paint in making the uniforms, which later improved by using sublimation printing.

“Our business is running for a long time now, so we have those loyal customers who return every time they need our services. Also, our sewers serve us for a long time, so we can guarantee that even though our service offerings changed and improved from rubberized to printed, the sewing capability crafted by our sewers are still and completely good in service. We also have diverse printing and sewing machines so we can guarantee swift and speedy service offered along with its good quality”, quipped its owner.

For their future plans, they sought to be a well-known establishment for sportswear garments not just in nearby places but also throughout the Philippines and abroad. They are also committed to improve the quality and service offered to their valued customers which is the utmost need and most important part in any business.

Netflix’s Avatar lead star Gordon Kyle Diez Cormier is a Filipino-Canadian from Laguna

The incredible charm and on-screen attractiveness of Avatar the Last Airbender lead star Gordon Cormier is one of the reasons why it was such a big hit in the streaming service Netflix and it had a huge following now with its seasons 2 and 3 plans in the works. Indeed, it is such an honor for Filipino fans to see a Filipino in Gordon to star in such a spectacle of a series.  

Gordon Kyle Diez Cormier is the only child of Filipino mother from Laguna Geny Diez and Canadian Father Gordon Cormier Sr. “As a young actor it feels pretty great but as a Filipino its amazing because I think I one of the first Filipino child actors to have a lead role like such a big role especially for Netflix so it is really awesome.” said Gordon Cormier.

Gordon was born in Vancouver, Canada. Cormier has been interested in the performing arts at an early age. Cormier started performing in an acting, singing, and dancing class at the age of 6. He auditioned for his first TV commercial at the age of 9. Cormier’s next big move was having a lead role as the hero Aang in the Netflix live action series: Avatar The Last Airbender. Cormier is looking forward to a great future in the TV and movie industry. When Cormier is not acting, you will more than likely find him at a local skateboard park, or skating around Vancouver streets and local municipalities because he loves skating.

Fil-Canadian cager Brandon Dela Cruz in brink of basketball stardom

It takes a lot of courage, will power, and hard work to attain such discipline in the world of sports, and this Filipino-Canadian cager is someone with a heart and passion for basketball. Meet Brandon Dela Cruz. Born Brandon Dela Cruz on August 17, 2006 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to Mr. Rommel  Dela Cruz and Ms. Jacqueline Dela Cruz, the 6-foot-3 forward cager is studying grade 12 in Gladstone Secondary School in Vancouver, Canada.

Asked how he balances his sports and studies, “I balance basketball and my studies by utilizing my good time management skills and ensure that my schoolwork is completed in a timely manner”, quipped the handsome cager from Canada.

His most unforgettable game is the game during the 2024 NBTC tournament finals which was held in an incredible venue and allowed him to compete with the very best local Filipinos and International teams. “The tournament was the largest event I have participated in and the memories with my teammates, local and fellow Canadians, will be with me forever, especially being the first international team to ever win the NBTC Division 2 finals. I am very thankful for Coach Nap Santos of Top Flight Sports Vancouver for providing this opportunity to play in an international stage”, added Brandon.

When he is not working hard honing his skills in basketball, he enjoys playing games on his PlayStation and listening to music. His idols in basketball include Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers. “Growing up watching him play and displaying great strength and skills on the court encourages me to develop my skills further and develop and increase my strength by developing my physique similar to Lebron’s physique”, said Brandon.

His career high was 28 points while having 11 rebounds in one of his high school regular season games. His ambition in life is to be successful in the sport of basketball and play as long as he can, then possibly pursue a career in real estate development to create financial freedom in the future. With the help of God and his determination to succeed in his chosen path, the road to glory should be on sight for this handsome, talented, and kind young man.

Green Archer Kieffer Louis Alas shows mettle inside the hard court

Every success is forged in a dream, for every journey starts with a beginning. The quest for sports glory is underway for this persevering and handsome basketball player from De La Salle Zobel. Meet Kieffer Louie Alas.

Born Kieffer Louie P. Alas on April 4, 2007 in Manila to Mr. Louie Alas and Ms. Liza Alas, the 6-foot-2 De La Salle Zobel student plays point guard for his team. Kieffer Louie is also a talent of Virtual Playground sports agency.

Asked how he balances his studies and sports, he said that proper time management is the key. “My most unforgettable game was our last game of the UAAP season against Ateneo. It was my first game against our archrival, and we pulled out a win”, quipped the handsome cager.

Aside from basketball, his other hobbies include video games, chess and meditation. His idols in basketball are Stephen Curry, his brother Kevin Alas, and Kieffer Ravena because he wants to model his game after them. His career high in points is 74 in Las Pinas barangay league. His ambition in life is to be able to play professional basketball abroad. With faith in God and the perseverance to succeed, the road to success is not far-fetched for this handsome young lad.

Born Jason Peter Cosico Emmitt on October 7, 2007 at Isle of White England, the 5-foot-10 Filipino-British head turner is 16 years of age and is currently studying at Canossa Colleges. He is also an athlete, a table tennis player and played for the San Pablo Division Athletic Meet. He also won a silver medal for their PRISEA Olympics in table tennis on Feb. 15-16, 2024. Jason Peter is also into modelling, joining pageants at an early age. His hobbies include dancing and watching movies or tv series. His sports include tennis, table tennis, badminton, and volleyball. He is also an altar boy in St. Luke the Evangelist Parish in San Lucas 1 San Pablo City.

With his baby-faced look, he is almost a resemblance of actor Ian Veneracion during his youthful days as a young actor. His ambition in life is to be a pilot someday. With determination to succeed and an unceasing faith in God, this young lad will surely go the distance.

Born Kirk Partosa on November 18, 2008 in Angeles City, Pampanga, the 5-foot-10 student from Malabanis Integrated School is currently a grade 9 student and plays volleyball as an outside hitter for their team. Asked about how he balances his sports and studies, “the first thing we need is discipline because if we don’t have a discipline we can’t handle that”, quipped the handsome young guy. His most unforgettable game was in the Milo Best Center because they defeated a University.

Aside from volleyball, he is also into basketball and football. Kirk’s ambition in life is to be a varsity player in a University and become an artist or doctor. With perseverance, determination and unwavering faith in God, the future looks bright for this lad whose humility speak volumes of his character inside and outside of the hard court.

Pandemic-themed San Jose Integrated HS wins 3rd place in 29th Coco Festival Street Dancing Competition

San Jose Integrated High School capped the 3rd place of the 29th Coco Festival Street Dancing Competition held at the city plaza on January 13, 2024 in front of thousands of spectators and thousands more watching live on facebook pages. Indeed, the fun and excitement brought by this festival is back after 3 years of pandemic restrictions and San Jose Integrated High School heed to the call and brought back the winning glory.

Out of 6 schools that competed, San Jose Integrated HS placed 3rd, with Col. Lauro Dizon Memorial Integrated High School placing 2nd, and San Pablo City Integrated High School winning 1st place. Felix Amante Senior High School won Best Costume while San Pablo City Integrated High School also won for Best Choreography and Liveliest group awards.  The Street Dancing competition is part of a week-long celebration of the 29thh Coco Festival in the City of San Pablo.
