‘Mallari’, ‘Iti Mapukpukaw’, 4 other movies vie for 72nd FAMAS Best Picture race

The horror movie ‘Mallari’ picked up 14 FAMAS nominations leading all contenders for the 72nd Awards night happening on May 26 at the Manila Hotel Fiesta Pavilion. The historical drama ‘Gomburza’ followed closely with 12 FAMAS nominations. Box office hit ‘Rewind’ and ‘Papa Mascot’ each received 10 FAMAS nominations while the Kathryn Bernardo starrer ‘A Very Good Girl’ got 8 FAMAS nominations. Philippine Oscar entry and Cinemalaya big winner ‘Iti Mapukpukaw’ won 6 FAMAS nominations.

Vying for FAMAS Best Director are: Carl Papa for ‘Iti Mapukpukaw’, Derick Cabrido for ‘Mallari’, Pepe Diokno for ‘Gomburza’,  Mae Cruz for ‘Rewind’, Petersen Vargas for ‘ A Very Good Girl’, and Louie Ignacio for ‘Papa Mascot’.

The nominees for Best Actor are: Cedrick Juan for ‘Gomburza’, Piolo Pascual for ‘Mallari’,  Alfred Vargas for ‘Pieta’, Ken Chan for ‘Papa Mascot’, Dingdong Dantes for ‘Rewind’, and Alden Richards for ‘Family of Two’.

The nominees for Best Actress are: Kathryn Bernardo for ‘A Very Good Girl’, Maricel Soriano for ‘In His Mother’s Eyes’, Charlie Dizon for ‘Third World Romance’, Marian Rivera for ‘Rewind’, Sharon Cuneta for ‘Family of Two’, and Eugene Domingo for ‘Becky & Badette’.
